Unique chance to learn about healthcare procurement
Innovation in life science must more than ever be based on healthcare needs and demands. Then, great opportunities can be created for the business and industry. This is one of the starting points in a new industry-wide collaboration project in Västra Götaland.

Six science parks from West Sweden with different specialisations are joining forces in the three-year project, Inn2Health. The project also includes MedTech West and the Region Västra Götaland with several areas of expertise. One of them is the region’s procurement team, which is responsible for procurements, purchasing issues and orders for Region Västra Götaland’s operations.
”The composition of the project gives the participants a unique insight into how healthcare needs are linked to technology, innovations and experiences from several different industries and research areas,” says Åsa Lindström, project manager for Inn2Health at Sahlgrenska Science Park.
In the project, new solutions and ideas can be verified and evaluated before being tested in real-life healthcare environments.
At the same time, everything can be done on the basis of the requirements that must be met by products and services for use in the healthcare environment.
“This gives a great competitive advantage for the business community to have the opportunity to better understand the customers’ needs. But most importantly, this way of working can contribute to both existing and new technology being used in a way that patients receive care that is both better and more cost-effective,” says Åsa Lindström.
One of the major advantages is that West Sweden has industries and experiences that complement each other particularly well in the development of digital services and products. The experience of the automotive industry’s transformation towards self-driving vehicles is also very useful when it comes to the transformation of the life science industry.
“West Sweden has a unique combined force with specialties that complement each other in the digitalisation of life science. Short distances combine well with a long tradition of collaboration,” says Åsa Lindström.
Inn2Health is a collaboration project between Sahlgrenska Science Park, Lindholmen Science Park, Johanneberg Science Park, Science Park Borås, Science Park Skövde, Wargön Innovation / Innovatum, MedTech West and Region Västra Götaland.
The project is financed by Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) and Region Västra Götaland.
