New pop-up lounge at Sahlgrenska – a place for collaboration and inspiration

In 2025, Medicinareberget will have a new dynamic meeting place – A Working Lab @ Sahlgrenska. The lounge is located in the former Lunchen.nu premises and is a temporary initiative where students, researchers, and staff can enjoy an open, flexible, and inspiring environment for work and creative meetings.

Publish date: 2025-02-26

The new lounge is a way to explore how open and flexible environments can strengthen collaboration within academia and healthcare while also providing a welcome addition of study spaces on campus. Here, you can sit down with your laptop, have informal meetings, or let spontaneous conversations lead to new collaborations. By creating a space where different skills and backgrounds come together, we open up opportunities for creative clashes and interdisciplinary initiatives.

Sustainable and repurposed

The lounge is furnished with repurposed furniture and items we already have, which both contributes to a unique atmosphere and reduces the carbon footprint. The premises, previously a lunch restaurant, have been given new life through this initiative and are now an accessible space for everyone on campus. There will also be an option to buy coffee and snacks from a refrigerated display. Additionally, a food truck will be set up near the entrance during certain periods.

Open to all

The lounge is open and free of charge for students, researchers, and employees at the University of Gothenburg and Sahlgrenska University Hospital. This is a way for us to test a new concept and make use of a space that was previously vacant. The idea is that everyone using the space will bring it to life and contribute to a vibrant and creative atmosphere.

Location: Ground floor, Medicinaregatan 8, Gothenburg
Opening: Available from March 3 and at least throughout 2025
Opening hours: 08:00 - 20:00 on weekdays, no access card required.

You are warmly welcome to discover A Working Lab @ Sahlgrenska – a place for collaboration, inspiration, and new ideas!

About A Working Lab

A Working Lab is Akademiska Hus' national concept for co-working and flexible meeting places on Sweden's campuses. Here, students, researchers, and businesses come together to work, study, and collaborate in dynamic environments. Through cooperation with users, attractive and flexible workspaces are created, where companies and organizations can rent spaces as needed. With a focus on creative clashes and unexpected meetings, A Working Lab promotes innovation and new ways of thinking on campus.

A Working Lab @ Sahlgrenska is a collaborative initiative between Akademiska Hus, Sahlgrenska Science Park, Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
